A Cyon Research White Paper
Title: An Examination of UGS’ Repeatable
Digital Validation (RDV) Framework
Cyon Research, has coined a new term: "RAVDA" - Rapid Analysis
and Validation of Design Alternatives -
to describe the technological framework necessitated by the enormous
recent growth in product complexity and variation. It's much more
than just CAD, CAE, PDM, and ERP; it's a different way of looking
at the huge numbers of part and design alternative combinations to
accommodate the shrinking time-to-market timeframes imposed by global
competition.
The Cyon Research whitepaper examines UGS' Repeatable Digital Validation
(RDV) in the RAVDA context.
RDV is a process that unites a number of tools to address the RAVDA
challenge. UGS is clearly making important strides in tackling the
job of digital validation with its RDV solution. By harnessing a
variety of powerful technologies, UGS has brought forward an important
part of everyone's ultimate vision for the design process: an overall
model that is updated at every step and continuously available to
design teams.

PLM Vis - custom visualization for the advancement of in-house processes
In-house processes reflect a company. They are the extra
touches that have been implemented to differentiate
oneself from the competition. Engineering
companies develop their own methods of working that
contribute to quality control, ease communications
between departments, shave precious production minutes,
or enable Management to keep a finger on the pulse.
In-house processes evolve and suit a way or working
that off-the-shelf applications can never fully support.

Viewing CAE Data Using The JT Format
Recently UGS announced the availability of JT2Go, a lightweight
JT format viewer. This is exciting news for CAE users,
both NX
Version 3 Scenario for Structures and I-deas NX Series
Version 11m2 have the ability to generate JT files
from
their post processors. These files can then be directly viewed, rotated,
zoomed and panned in JT2Go. Because the JT format creates compact files for
viewing, it isn’t a replacement for a full function post processor.
At this time color bars are not supported, expect to see them in future releases
