So you go to PLM World, and you watch John turn a butterfly valve into
a vice with about 3 keystrokes using NX5. Awesome!!! Then you watch Derek
turn a couple of circles into a “Spinner” in about 3 minutes.
Way cool!!! Add in a couple of keynote speakers who are doing things
you haven’t yet imagined, and a few expert users showing how they
regularly do things you didn’t know were possible. If you’re
like me, you go back home amazed (even confused) by the power of the
software, the creativity of the people using it, and the possibilities
which don’t seem to end.
But what if you really wanted to get some tips and tricks you could
use in NX2 to help you do your job a little better, faster, or more efficiently?
You wouldn’t be alone. In fact, feedback from previous conferences
often includes comments asking for more user demonstrations, or tips
and tricks of how people are using previous releases and/or more basic
functionality. Things like:
How to create a part family
Sketcher tips
Mating conditions
Chamfers, blends, and tapers
Spread sheets
Arrangements
Management of large assemblies
Positioning Features
Resolving external references
Direct modeling
Who’s qualified to present these things? I’d guess that
if you’re reading this article, you probably have something you
could share. You don’t need to be an “expert”. You
don’t need to be using the latest release of NX. All you really
need is a willingness to help make our users’ group even better.
In
exchange for your time and efforts you get rewarded in many ways. Some
of the obvious include free admission to the conference, speaker
gifts, and an invitation to the speakers’ dinner. There are many
other rewards, including the recognition and gratitude of others at the
conference, and back at work.
If you’re interested in presenting, or even learning more about
presenting, contact a SIG Chair, Board member, or Technical Leader
today. Submit an abstract at www.plmworld.org.
Deadlines for submitting abstracts is December 16th. Get involved!
You’ll
be glad you did.
