Dear PLM World Citizens,
I wanted to take a few moments to tell you what I am looking forward
to at this years event.
As a volunteer member of the PLM World user group board, I have been
working with many, many individuals on the details and structure of our
event. My hat is off to everyone involved in this monumental task.
I am a working manager responsible for the creative designs of blow-molded
packaging for my company, so I also need to keep up on my operator skills
on NX. I will be checking out any information on NX5 that may be available
to me. I will attend the training sessions to brush up on my skills.
We use FEA to study our plastic bottle designs and I would like to know
more about the integration of Nastran into my current product development
workflow. So far, I will be the only representative from my company attending,
and having so many options is a plus, but I know I will have to pick
and choose. I will print out the agenda to help build a case that one
person can't possibly cover all of the tracks my company needs to keep
up with. I also need to sit in on Teamcenter Express presentations to
see how to enhance our design department with workflow processes. One
benefit I like is the ability to view the presentations after the event
in case I missed anything or if I could not be in three places at one
time. Last year we had a CD and this year we should have all of the presentations
loaded up on plmworld.org shortly after the conference is over.
I will look forward to delivering the opening remarks to kickoff the
event. I don't have the opportunity to speak in front of almost 2,000
colleagues often. Last year from the podium we had these bright lights
pointing to the stage that tended to obscure my full view, but I knew
that a giant sea of attendees were streaming into the ballroom to see
and hear the latest that UGS has to offer on their open day. Throughout
the week, UGS Customers will deliver 50% of the presentations, in addition
to presentations by UGS & PLM World Partners. This is a perfect balance
and shows the incredible volunteerism evident in our Users, along with
the support of UGS & Partners.
I am proud that the attendees to our conference place their trust in
us to deliver a most impactful week. I realize being away for even one
day can be a burden on a team's work load, much less 5 days, so we pack
as much content in that we can. We also will make sure the Cyber Cafe
is up and running so you can catch up on email back home. We are on track
to beat last year's attendance and I hope that you will be able to be
a part of our week.
