NX Design Special Interest Group Update

So, you’ve heard of the NX Design Special Interest Group (SIG) but you’re not sure what we do. Well, I’m here to tell you what we are doing, what we are currently working on and what you can get out of group.

First off what we do. The NX Design SIG has two primary working functions; 1) we collaborate with Siemens-UGS to define the Enhancement Requests on the yearly Customer Involvement Process (CIP) ballots and; 2) we collaborate on future functional projects with the UGS Product Managers.

We are currently working with Siemens-UGS in defining and prioritizing the Pattern Project. This project looks at all the copy/patterning functions inside NX to help come up with a common interface. We then provide input on how we, the users, would like to see these functions operate. This is where YOU get a chance for your voice, or your company’s voice, to be heard by UGS.

The functions we are currently looking at in the Patterning Project are Instance, Copy Geometry, and Pattern Face. Each of these functions contains their own interface and functionality. By consolidating these functions into a common interface, the users benefit from usability and familiarity with the interface. In other words this project will make the functions easier to use and easier to learn. This in turn provides you with a quicker return on your training investment and gets your staff up to speed faster.

I would like to invite you to share your voice and ideas with UGS on this project. Just let me know if you are interested and I will invite you to the next meeting.  For more information visit the NX Design SIG at: http://www.plmworld.net/technical/design.php.
